Pure P2P and Browser-Based Architecture

gre.to is a web-based application (PWA). A person simply clicks your link (gre.to/you), and a high-definition audio call, video call, or message opens directly in the browser within seconds, without visiting any app store or downloading anything.

Freedom from Phone Numbers - identity is based on your name and the internet, rather than a SIM card or APP

  • old way: You are strictly tied to your physical SIM card and phone number. You must know another person's number to connect with them.
  • gre.to: Your identity is GREID a web address (for example, gre.to/you). You simply share it and people can reach you directly over the internet.

PROPRIETARY vs. PUBLIC (WebRTC / Standards)

gre.to: Uses open web standards (WebRTC for voice/video calls and WebSockets / Socket.io for signaling). These are built-in standards of any modern web browser that require no separate software or hardware.

Centralized Servers vs. Direct P2P (Peer-to-Peer)

gre.to: Built on the WebRTC principle, which strives to establish a direct connection (P2P) between two browsers over the internet, without data having to pass through a third party's server in the meantime.

Phone Infrastructure vs. Web Addresses

gre.to: An open web-based protocol (PWA) that brings communication services directly into the browser, turning every web address into an independent communication channel.

borderless communication

PWA browser support

You can open any name card and connect in any modern browser only internet connection, mic and speakers are required. Installing as a PWA (Add to Home Screen / Install) is optional and mainly helps with a standalone window and push alerts when the tab is closed.

PRIVACY

gre.to: Connects you directly to the other person. Once connected, your audio and video stream directly between browsers—your data is never stored on a middleman server.
